In less than a day after the loss of Quadri Oyebamiji, known as Sisi Quadri, another stalwart of Nollywood, John Okafor, alias Mr Ibu, has departed this world.
The renowned comedic actor, who had undergone medical procedures resulting in the amputation of his limb, has finally succumbed to the grasp of mortality. News has it that he breathed his last on Saturday, March 2, at a medical facility in Lagos.
Prior to his passing, there were murmurs about his health status owing to his prolonged absence from the public scene for over three years, which later escalated when reports of his incapacitation surfaced.
In 2019, Mr Ibu raised allegations of foul play, suggesting that his own kinfolk might have orchestrated attempts to poison him due to his flourishing career. Moreover, in May 2022, he claimed to have been poisoned yet again.
During an interview with Vanguard Newspaper, Okafor disclosed glimpses of his near-death experience, attributing his return to the realm of the living to divine intervention. He acknowledged the glee of his adversaries at his ailment, yet expressed gratitude for his miraculous survival.
Reflecting on his ordeal, he acknowledged the profound lessons learned, marveling at the unexpected continuation of his existence.
